Your way is more like holding a cane.<br />They sell trekking poles built for cane-like hand-holds yours.<br /><br />That river looked raging! Good thing the day was warm and you crossed it earlier in the day or you could have ended up with hypothermia.<br /><br />I agree those photos are incredible.
